I’m Başak Dinç, a Turkish visual artist based in Paris, currently pursuing an MFA in Photography & Image Making at Paris College of Art. I previously studied Film and Television in Istanbul, which continues to influence the way I approach image-making through atmosphere, rhythm, movement, and narrative.

My practice is rooted in experimentation and an intuitive approach to photography. I’m interested in the space between the observed and the imagined, exploring identity, intimacy, memory, desire, and transformation through images that often feel fragmented, cinematic, or dreamlike.

Music is also an important influence on the way I think and work. I often approach an image much like a sound. Looking for its frequency, rhythm, tension, repetition, and silence. Rather than following a fixed visual language, I allow each project to develop its own rhythm, experimenting with different ways of seeing, constructing, and sequencing images.

Photography, for me, is a way of sensing and collecting fragments of experience. I’m drawn to moments that are fleeting, ambiguous, or difficult to define, and to the possibility of transforming them into images that hold something beyond what is immediately visible.
