YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO HEAR THIS (2026)
You Are Not Supposed to Hear This is an experimental stop-motion film made entirely from cyanotype images, exploring the fragmented and unstable nature of memory.
The film opens with a woman’s voice heard through a telephone receiver, attempting to recall something that seems to be slipping from memory. The sound leads into a close-up of a man’s eye, which becomes the central image of the film. Through a sequence of hand-made cyanotypes, the eye opens and closes, weeps, fractures, disappears, and gradually comes back together.
The images move between recognition and disappearance, reflecting the way memories are rarely preserved as complete narratives. They emerge instead as fragments; sensations, images, sounds, and incomplete moments that are repeatedly reconstructed.
Through the tactile process of cyanotype and the fragmented rhythm of stop motion, the film treats memory as something constantly shifting: something that can disappear, return, break apart, and fall back into place.
